History
The village of Crofton lies 3 miles to the South of Wakefield City Centre and is the ideal location for families and commuters alike. The village has strong mining connections in its recent history, but in fact it dates back centuries and can be found in the Domesday Book listed as Scroftune.
Nowadays the village boasts a host of amenities including two Post Offices, a Dental surgery, Medical Centre, a football club, Youth Club and a selection of shops and independent businesses. Crofton also has an infant school, junior school and Crofton Academy Secondary School which is part of the Castleford Academy Trust.

It is conveniently situated just a 30 minute drive into Leeds City Centre, a 40 minute drive to Doncaster Sheffield Airport and a 50 minute drive to Sheffield. It has good, regular bus services to Wakefield, Pontefract, Hemsworth and South Elmsall, and from Wakefield train stations there are direct rail connections to London, Edinburgh and Glasgow.
