It’s been a pretty good month in Wakefield as not one but TWO of our attractions won a Visit England Gold Visitor Attraction Accolade. Congratulations to Yorkshire Sculpture Park and The Hepworth Wakefield.
Coming up this month is of course the start of the festive offerings, but before we deck the halls with tinsel, there’s Bonfire Night. Scroll down to find out where to go to enjoy the warmth of the fire and the sparkle of the fireworks.
There’s also new exhibitions, new attractions and the ever-popular Theatre Royal Wakefield pantomime to look forward to – keep reading to find out more!
This is, as always, a small selection of what’s on offer across our fabulous district – head to Experience Wakefield’s website and explore it all.
BONFIRE NIGHT
If you’re stuck for somewhere to warm yourself by the fire and admire some dazzling fireworks this Bonfire Night, you’re in the right place. We’ve rounded up displays across the district and they span from the 4th to the 11th November – so if you’re busy on actual bonfire night, you’ve still got chance to celebrate.
LIGHT UP
It’s back! Following last year’s success, Light Up returns this month with a series of events lighting up the district to coincide with the start of the festive season.
PANTOMIME
Turn again Dick Whittington! Theatre Royal Wakefield’s pantomime returns for 2022. Expect dazzling sets, spectacular costumes and the good old belly laughs that you have come to know and love.
PONTEFRACT MUSEUM
Opening at Pontefract Museum later this month, Women in Rugby League: Life with the Lionesses showcases the female pioneers of international Rugby League. From fundraising their own tour, to playing on an equal stage with their male counterparts in this year’s World Cup, hear from the women themselves and follow their ground-breaking journey.
XSCAPE CASTLEFORD
Start your engines… Gravity E-Karting is now open at Xscape Yorkshire – the North’s first multi-level electric karting experience. Race the all-electric go-karts through busy Japanese streets to test your skill, reflexes and nerve.
