Liquorice festival Sunday 8th July
July 4, 2018
Liquorice lovers, listen up! The sun is shining and this year's Pontefract Liquorice Festival is just around the corner.

Over the last 400 years, Pontefract has become somewhat known for its liquorice. Home to the ever famous Pontefract Cakes, the people of Pontefract make every effort to ensure their Liquorice roots remain, and the annual liquorice festival plays a big part.
Spend the day discovering facts about the liquorice growing in the area why it’s worth celebrating. Take your liquorice knowledge up a notch at one of the talks or sit back, relax and soak up the atmosphere at one of the local pubs or cafes – the liquorice stout is a firm favourite, it would be rude not to!
The festival has something for everyone, but those with a sweet tooth are in for a treat. Enjoy a tempting array of liquorice food and drink whilst browsing the colourful stalls at the street market. Dancers, musician and street entertainers keep the crowd in high spirits while craft activities, face painters and fairground rides keep the little ones amused all day long.
The festival will take place on Sunday the 8th of July in the town centre from 10am until 4pm. Entry is free. Don’t forget, we’re open over the weekend, Saturday and Sunday so feel free to call in to arrange your free market appraisal.
