National Apprenticeship Week

February 15, 2022

To celebrate National Apprenticeship Week 2022 we wanted to introduce you to some of our current Apprentices here at Richard Kendall.

Bethany Westmoreland works in our Rental Department, and has recently achieved a Distinction in her training – Customer Service Practitioner EPA.  She’s now moved on to the next level.

“I’m currently studying my level 3 Business Administration apprenticeship. All my co-workers and managers have been very supportive during my apprenticeship and have always supported me with the choices I have made.

I would definitely recommend taking an opportunity like this one!”

Leah Appleton works in the Wakefield Office and is on a 15 month Level 2 Junior Estate Agent Apprenticeship.

“I took an interest in estate agency last year when my sister was buying her first home. I enjoyed watching the process and saw how big of an achievement buying a home, especially a first home, was. It made me want to help people achieve that sense of pride when buying property, therefore, I decided to apply for this apprenticeship.

Since the first day of my apprenticeship, I have been made to feel as though I fit in well and everyone within the company has been so welcoming. I know that if I am struggling, I will be given extra support where needed.

I have now been doing this apprenticeship for 7 months and feel that each day I learn something new within the property sector. I have broadened my skills greatly and look forward to progressing further.

My advice to anyone applying for an apprenticeship is to go for it. It is an excellent opportunity to learn new skills whilst in a working environment, surrounded by colleagues that are passionate about the same thing.”

Joe Brookers and Amber Hamilton have both just begun their apprenticeships with us in the last few weeks.  They have shared their thoughts on the experience so far…

“Having only started this apprenticeship last week I feel I have already learnt a lot and that my confidence is growing. I have become more independent as well as broadening my skill set within estate agency. Although I am not entirely sure what I would like to do after this apprenticeship the role that appeals to me the most is a valuation role however I am using this apprenticeship to learn about the different roles within the company in order to decide what to do after. I look forward to continuing with this apprenticeship and learning new skills.” – Joe Brookes, Wakefield Office

“I am currently doing an apprenticeship at Richard Kendall and I would highly recommend this.
The staff are very nice and welcoming and have being patient whilst I get used to the new system. They have helped me out a lot and even though I have only being here two weeks I know what I am doing and feel comfortable to ask anyone when I am struggling.” – Amber Hamilton, Pontefract Office

We have been lucky enough to support lots of apprentices through the National Business College over the past 10 years, and we have enjoyed being a part of their journeys into the industry.  You can hear from Simon Kendall talking about our great partnership with the NBC on our Facebook page.  Watch the video here.
