Poetry Competition Winner!
March 25, 2021

Over the last two weeks we have been running a poetry competition for local Primary School children in celebration of World Poetry Day which was on Sunday 21st March, and now we have a winner!
Congratulations to Ollie Potter, Age 7, and his school Southdale C of E Juniors, Ossett. Claire Kendall, was able to surprise Ollie via a video call to his classroom this morning to tell him the good news. He has won a £50 book token for Darling Reads in Horbury for himself, and £250 in book tokens for his school. Well done Ollie, we hope you have many hours of reading pleasure from your prize, and thank you to Mrs Garnett for letting us interrupt your learning this morning.
Here is Ollie’s poem in full.
Richard Kendall is the best
It’s better than all the rest
Come and take a look around
Have a gander in our town
Always there to lend a hand
Richard Kendall is the best in the land
Doing good for all
Kindness is helping others
Everyone is treated the same, like sisters and brothers
Need a house or flat to rent
Delivering houses, it’s better than living in a tent
All for one, one for all
Love Richard Kendall, you will have a ball
Let’s do this!
