Pontefract Light Switch on 2017

If you live or work in Pontefract, you will be well aware that the annual light switch on took place on Monday night. The rain may have washed away a couple of stalls, but it certainly did not wash away the community spirit!

The event takes place every year in November on Market Place in the town centre, close to the market hall. This year, the show was hosted by Ridings FM who were joined by X Factor star Jodie Alexandra, local musician Leon Pashley, and the fantastic St Giles pantomime.

Local traders are invited to display their products on beautifully decorated Christmas themed stalls for the general public to browse at their leisure, while enjoying hot food provided by the selection of food stands.

The event also saw a whole host of children’s entertainment from children’s rides, donkey rides, library activities and even a visit from the real life santa!
