Richard Kendall look back on 2016

2017 will soon be here, here are a few of the highlights!

The Team

This year we have welcomed two fabulous new staff members. Tina Wood, who has over 20 years experience of being an estate agent, and has joined as a Senior Property Consultant, and Jody Murphy, who has joined as an Associate Director and is based in our Pontefract office.

In addition to this, four members of our staff recently passed their ARLA exams, well done Kate, Jenna, Sallie and Jade!

Two girls who have been with us from school, Sophie Crossley and Jenny Rothery, celebrated their 21st birthdays this year. These weren’t the only celebrations, as Jenna Bretherton and Sarah Whalley celebrated being with the company for 10 years earlier this year!

We have heard the pitter patter of tiny feet as Alison Hopkinson from our Normanton office has just welcomed a baby girl, Isla! Suzanne Jordan has returned from maternity leave in the Ossett office, while Shireen at the Wakefield office is due in April next year.

Events

Once again we have sponsored and raised money for Wakefield Hospice, with twelve members of our staff taking part in the race and others volunteering during the event, helping raise over £50,000 for a fantastic cause. A great achievement for all the team. We have been in talks with Pontefract Hospice and will be helping out wherever we can there in the future.

Obstacles

Don’t be fooled, 2016 hasn’t passed without its obstacles! The months running up to June 23rd were tense with Brexit causing worry for many businesses in the UK. Fortunately, we were not to worry as we have not felt an impact of the vote, as we feared.

Busy Busy!

New legislation was introduced this year which meant smoke alarms were a necessity in every rental property, this certainly kept the rental department busy who had the task of checking nearly 1,000 of the properties we manage, making sure they had them in!

Our specialist brand, Hallmark properties has had a successful streak this year, including the sale of a property sold by Amanda and Joanne in Middlestown which was on the market at £1 million!

We are moving!

Lastly, we have just been passed the keys for our new Normanton Office at 10 High Street, Normanton and we are very very excited!
