Landmark rules surrounding tenants’ rental fees have helped boost Wakefield’s housing market, it has emerged.
The local rental scene has seen a clear increase in activity since the revolutionary new rules were introduced four months ago. The Tenant Fees Act means landlords can no longer charge tenants for administration costs or associated charges such as credit and reference checks and viewing charges.
The move, which came into effect four months ago, is designed to support tenants seeking to move into the rental market and protect them from rogue landlords and unnecessary letting agents’ fees.
